Who It’s For

If you hate drilling holes but love watching your NanoStation slide off the glass on a hot Tuesday afternoon, this mount is for you. It’s designed for folks who need a temporary, non-permanent setup on a clean window, or who want the option to wall-mount without buying a separate bracket.

Real-World Use Cases

  • Indoor CPE testing or temp link: Stick the NanoStation on an office window to quickly bridge two buildings while you sort out a permanent outdoor mount. Works, but don’t trust it beyond a few weeks.
  • Rental-friendly install: Landlord says no holes? Use the window suction cups to get a signal out without violating the lease. Just be ready to re-stick it every month or two.

Key Advantages

  • Two mounting options in one box: Includes both suction-cup window adapter and a wall-mount bracket with screws. The wall option is far more reliable – use it if you can.
  • Adjustable aiming: Two pivot points let you tweak the angle horizontally and vertically. Plenty of range for pointing through glass or past an eave.
  • Genuine Ubiquiti fit: Specifically keyed for NSM2/NSM5 and locoM2/M5 radios – no shims or mods needed. That is, if you have the right radio.

Practical Considerations

  • Suction cups are the first thing to fail. Heat, cold, and dust break the seal. Expect to re-seat them every few months, or use the wall mount if you want to set and forget.
  • No cable strain relief. The Ethernet just dangles from the back of the radio. Tape or zip-tie it to the mount arm, or seal the window gap to keep weather out.
  • Window glass kills 5 GHz signal. Low-E or double glazing can knock off 2–3 dB. Test before you commit – you might be better off wall-mounting anyway.
  • Friction joints drift over time. In windy spots, the aim can wander. A dab of threadlocker or a zip-tie around the pivot joint locks it in place.
  • Check your radio model. This mount is not for the newer NanoStation AC, LiteBeam, PowerBeam, or airCube lines. Double-check the mounting hole pattern before buying.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q: Will this mount work on a double-glazed window? Yes, mechanically it will stick to the glass, but expect significant signal loss (1–3 dB) at 5 GHz. Single-pane glass is fine; low-E coatings make it worse. Wall-mount is usually the better option.
  • Q: Can I use it outdoors permanently? The wall-mount bracket can go outside if sheltered from direct rain, but the plastic arm is ABS and will become brittle in full sun over a year or two. For permanent outdoor use, get a proper pole mount instead.
  • Q: How does it compare to a universal pole mount? The NS-WM is specialised for windows and quick installs. A pole mount (e.g., Ubiquiti’s own universal kit) is sturdier, offers better wind resistance, and won’t drift. Only buy this if you absolutely need window mounting.
  • Q: What is the warranty and local support in Australia? Ubiquiti offers a 1-year limited warranty through authorised resellers (e.g., Scorptec, Mwave, xByte). Support is online-only – no local office. Keep your proof of purchase, and expect RMA turnaround of 2–4 weeks.
